I am a newbie and i am buying a MB that has an AGP Pro slot (Abit IC7-G) . While the MB Owners Manual states that it supports up to AGP8x, it also warns that the MB does not support 3.3v AGP cards. I'd like to get the ATI AIW 9000 but cannot figure out if this board is compatible ... and I really don't have the cash to buy the AIW9700. Can someone help me to understand/figure out if the 9000 is compatible with the motherboard?

Thanks for yor help!

Thanks for the reply. Assuming you are right, does that mean that I cannot put that board into that slot? The 9000 is a 2x/4X board. and the MB seem to be a 4x/8X board. I'm thinking that might be OK.. Any ideas?

Thanks,

According the manual for my Asus P4P800 board, it states that the chipset only supports .8v and 1.5v. And that you shoudl examine the connectors of the card to determine its compatibility. .8v is AGP 8x and have 3 edge connectors(not counted the PCB w/o the copper plates). 1.5V is AGP 4x, and it is also supposed to have 3 such connectors.

Not sure how much stock to put in the manual description though, as my 9600 Pro is an AGP 8x/4x card and it only has two connectors. It works without any problems in AGP 4x mode, but causes freezes in 3D apps after a minute or so in AGP 8x mode.
