There must be some speaker settings in the control panel that are set up wrong.

Open the turtle beach control panel (Start >> Programs >> Turtle Beach)

And make sure that you have set up the control panel to use the speaker mode "6 Speaker (5:1)"

I've been to the Control Panel numerous times..... I have it set right.

The rears aren't working again. Sometimes when I set it to 4 speakers, then back to 6 speakers it works.... but even that isn't working now

What gives?

What source are you using to output sound? If the source is only 2 channels (like winamp), then you'll only get sound from 2 speakers.
See if there's a program that came with your sound card that tests the output of each speaker. The audigy software package has one.

Control panel.

Sound devices...

Set the speaker setup to 5.1

Also mess with your hardware software..

KEY:

MAke sure the rear jack is firmly plugged into the sound card min-jack hole...for some reason it sometimes feels like it is all the way in but it is not...use firm pressure.

Control panel? Check
Speaker setup? Check
Cables plugged in? Check

I don't understand why it was working before and not now

Did the front speakers work in the rear connector? If the answer is yes, then leave them switched, and see if you lose sound in either pair. You could have a short in your rear speaker wire, or the amp for rear connector could be shot.
