Help me with my recording setup

I am moving my recording setup from a desktop to a laptop. I am going to sell my PCI audio card, and I need a USB or Firewire interface. Since I am a noob and don't know the words for things, I don't know how to search for what i need.

basically, I need THIS .

If you can figure out what this would be called, or even find something for me, that would be great. My budget is $100. Less than that would be good too.

Also, it seems like Firewire is a lot more expensive than USB. Are there advantages of Firewire over USB?

Also, there is a Firewire one. It seems like Firewire allows the use of more channels at once? Is that the advantage of having firewire?
