HELP ME with my 40gb Seagate Hard-Drive

Okay, I have a 40gb Seagate Hard-Drive model #ST340810A.. I'm running XP and so far, it recognized the new hardware, but doesn't say it's a Hard-Drive.. I tried running the "Disk Manager" disk that came with it. Both the floppy and CD, the floppy did something at the Start-Up that just showed me support #'s but the CD loads but whenever I try to install anything from the CD, it just does nothing. Like nothing happened.

Anyone know where I can get drivers for this hard-drive (I'm on Windows XP) and / or know why it is not working.

I'm assuming you've added the drive?

In that case, go to Disk Management under Administrative Tools and administer the volume.
 
I'm having the same problem I think.
Bios see it.
Under Disk Management, it is "unallocated." wtf does that mean?
 
But, I am still stuck.
Basically everythign else says it is there and working properly, but Windows Explorer does know about it.
 
Yeah.. I ran Disk Wizard from my a:\ and it said: "Disk Manager was unable to find any Seagate Technology ATA Hard Drive in your system."

Any ideas?

I think maybe we just need to partition it.
Once you get to the Disk Manager, you can click on the drive and do it.
 
Heh.. I didn't go into Disk Management, Computer Management -> Device Manager -> Disk Drives -> ST340810A -> Volumes Tab -> Populate

It means there are no partitions and no file system on it.
