The machine I want to upgrade is as follows:
it's a T1115 1.0GHz with winXP

The book says;
SyncDIMM sockets up to 512MB (2x256)
168-pin 3.3 V DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
100/100 MHz Non-ECC unbuffered SDRAM
256MB 32x64

I am trying to add the following ram:
Samsung PC133 memory

The Ram that Emachines Sells for the system

Is there any reason why this ram would be incompatible with this system?

Thanks

you're trying to get a new PC133 stick to work with a PC100 stick? does the new PC133 work when installed alone? try to get the new stick working by itself then add the old one.

maybe you need to go into bios and see if you can downclock it to PC100 per the specs you listed. does the motherboard have a jumper to enable PC133 memory?

assuming both sticks work, my guess is your problem is related to using a PC100 stick and a PC133 stick.

edit: i thought notebook memory was labeled as SODIMM or something different from desktop memory. obviously, i don't have a lot of experience with troubleshooting laptops.

okay. to be certain download everest and it'll tell ya. i think the best thing you can do is try to get the new DIMM working by itself.

sorry, didn't know you couldn't boot. if the ram is officially supported, they probably just sent you a bad stick. do you have access to another computer that uses SDRAM? even a desktop you could use just to test memory. if not, i'd just send it back.
