Could someone help me configure my Hd's, 9gig ibm 7200rpm & 45gig maxtor 7200rpm, to run well with my A7v motherboard. My benchmarking tests got me between 6 and 7 mb/sec. Shouldn't it be ALOT higher? After trying everything to get it to finally run stable im ready to concentrate more on performance. I would appreciate someone giving me a rundown on hooking up the promise controller drivers, can i run both my master, the small ibm on it also even though its an ata66? thanks

If you can, setup your drives on seperate channels. Since IDE canot read and write at the same time, if you trying to access both drives at the same time you will get the lag time there. It is not a huge performance getter, but it is a good one.

Make sure ultra DMA is enabed in BIOS, and make sure DMA is enabled in Windows.

Try Sandra benchmark.... with my 2HDs... my Maxtor 30GB 7200 ATA100 gives me about 21,000 or if Im in Win2K with NTFS about 23,000..... with my WD 13GB 5400 ATA66 I get about 17,000 or 19,000 in win2K. That should give you a reference point.
