Help me with daughter's homework

Maetryx here, 😎

I am stuck on a homework problem that my daugher is working on. We need to find a word that means "person that acts for another". Here is the part that is given

_ _ P U T _ [so it is a six letter word]

It is (obviously) not "agent" or "fiduciary" which I came up with doing a google search (for all of you who were about to accuse me of wasting bandwidth and instruct me to do a google search).

Help appreciated.
