Help me with buying a GPS or Palm with GPS unit!!! Novice!!

Ok, I need to know how to get a GPS or a Palm with a GPS unit for my friend and I don't know anything about it. I read some here and other websites, but still no clue...

I saw Garmin GPS. Is this better than Palm version of GPS??? viewable area, function....

How about a Palm? since with Palm there is more things that I can do with it.. Is GPS device works well with a Palm?

right now, my friend is thinking about getting a Palm, but he does not know anything about it and me neither....

Recommend me a good Palm that have decent fuctions for novice and have GPS connection. Mainly for GPS. How much is a Palm with a good GPS??

Please give me all the inputs.

you haven't actually identified what you're looking for...be it plain navigational (north/south/east west/latitude/longitude) readings or city maps with detailed streets and restaurants.

I picked up an etrex not too long ago (the base yellow model made by Garmin) for the primary use of navigation in my car. I can instantly check my speed, direction i'm heading, how many miles i've travelled, and any marker points if i felt the need to set them along my way. That's all i really use it for.

I got a Garmin Street Pilot 3 Deluxe a while ago for my car instead of the factory GPS system. Though I saved some money, I'm not completely happy with it. It is slow to calculate, gives me strange and inconsistent directions and is inconvenient to use because it doesn't have a touch screen. Otherwise, it is kind of helpful.
