I'm playing a stupid browser game and I can win some $$$ (game money of course) if I can figure this out:

little jimmy and timmy alien and their 40 little alien friends are out on the town. 25 of them each meet 5 cute little alien girls in the space bar. then they all leave to fly to earth to borrow 12 cows. Crazy Aliens!! ..........................Count The Aliens

The answers already guessed are:

167
142
4
1
0
5
166
141
2
47

'splain your answer please.
Well, the obvious answer is 167 - but that doesn't take into account the process of abducting cows is quite dangerous, where 17 aliens are killed during the abduction of 12 cows. That's your answer.

Man, proper grammar and capitalization would help. Are Jimmy and Timmy aliens, or is that their last name? "Count the Aliens", is that refering to a name, meaning 2, being Jimmy and Timmy Alien? What?

Assume Jimmy is an alien: 1.

Assume Timmy is an alien: 2.

Assume the 40 friends are to be counted: 42.

Assume the 5 alien girls are the same five girls. That is, there were 5 girls in the space bar when they entered, and they met them: 47.

Assume cows aren't aliens: 47.

That is your answer. 47.

But they said each of the 25 aliens met 5 girls.

Suppose that you meet DaTT and I meet DaTT. Then we each meet DaTT. How many people did we meet? One.

My next answer was going to be 2.

Aliens is only plural twice in the entire riddle.

It didn't say they each met 5 "different" alien girls though. 😛

Doesn't say they met 5 different girls.

Damn it. This is why I hate number-based riddles, the answer could be anything. They could have met the same 5 girls, they could have met 4 of the same girls and one different one each.

The numbers aren't the problem here. The grammer is the problem. It is very poorly worded. So we have to use common sense. If a group is going into a bar, are they honestly going to meet 25*5 = 125 girls none of which overlaps? Probably not. The chance of no overlap is probably very small. There could be partial overlap like you mention. But then the problem is unanswerable. The most likley outcome is that there were just 5 total girls that they each met. And it is the one and only outcome that we can give an answer to.

Better wording would have helped.
