I recently built a new system and transferred my old power supply to the new case. New system is in the sig.
I'm using a cable to expand the 8pin cpu power to a 8+4 to match the x570 board. It seems to be a bit unstable since I added the splitter. At present, I don't have an extra PSU to test with.
Also, I'm planning on a 3080 when the prices/stock become reasonable again.
I pulled an old Zalman 750w out of the closet to power my old rig. (2008 vintage?) It has 4 12v rails, kinda strange to look at.

The old rig won't post/boot, I suspect the Zalman is dead. I'm going to transfer the old HX850 back to the old case where it was reliable and get a new power supply for the new rig.
I've been comparing Seasonic SSR-850x to a new Corsair HX850 (2017). Other than price and maybe noise, they seem to be very similar.
My goal is to get something with some forward compatibility and if xfire/sli becomes a thing again. Fully modular is preferable.
Of course you can chime in with other brands/models.
