As stated, a good monitor for overall use, Photoshop and gaming mainly. Under $500 please, widescreen is preferred, and 20 inches if possible. Thanks.

I don't really have a good brand to recommend for LCDs. Just get DVI, 8ms or less, and you'll be good. I just bought myself an Acer 19" WS, but it only has VGA. Not really a problem, since it was on sale.

If you are going to be doing some Photoshop work as well as gaming, I would recommend the Samsung 215TW.

With photoshop you need S-IPS.

Viewsonic 2025- P-MVA - no good
Samsung 215TW - S-PVA - not bad, shoudl work ok
NEC 20WMGX2 - S-IPS - Best panel for color critical work.

*applause* StevenNevets just recommended the OP a $160 19"inch TN solution, when the OP clearly stated he was willing to spend around $500 and preferred at least a 20" for photoshop work. good job buddy!

20" is way too big

but seriously, I don't see why the Viewsonic 2025 would be bad for photoshop. Its an 8-bit panel with OK viewing angles. The viewing angles are not as good as an IPS panel, but they will still be quite good. it would save quite a but of money. If you are wil to spend $489, then the Samsung is very good. The NEC is too expensive at $627.

The Dell 2007FPW uses an IPS panel, and they seem to have fixed the banding issues that plagued these LCDs early on. It should be a highly recomended LCD now:

Edit - I just found out DELLs may still have banding issues if you get a bad revision. However its pretty easy to return/exchange if you buy from Costco.

I like VX2025. Well I own one and there's a thread here that I also reviewed it (very briefly).

Check it out, it's in Video Forum (aka the Flamebait forum)
