Group,

I have an old HP pavlion 8275 that I would like to upgrade a bit. I am not looking for the top of the line. But I would like to spend bit of money and get a better performing PC. I have already update some of the hardware. Here is what I have already added.

new stick of 128mb memory 100mhz
Maxtor ATA 100 controller
Maxtor 20gb hd 7200 rpm (whines a lot is that normal?)
Radion PCI 32mb video card
Samtron 17 inch monitor
Philips 8x4x32x cd-rw drive

I added the 128mb ram to the original 64. What should I consider doing to get a bit better performance with this setup? I was thinking a new case, mb and cpu. Then just move over the good parts from the old hp. What would be the best bang for the buck? Or am I waiting my time?

Thanks for any hints or suggestions.

Upgrading the CPU is the best way to increase performance. But, your mobo may already have the fastest CPU that it can take, so you would be out of options other than getting a new case, mobo, cpu and starting fresh with a new PC.
