Help me upgrade this video card

I have a old pc (WIN98) that uses some really old Nvidia card pre-geforce (8mb memory). Can anyone recommend a decent video card upgrade? I was thinking about a pci card considering i haven't been able to find anything good that uses AGP 2X...

Price range $50-100

Does PCI outperform AGP 2X?

No, that's why AGP was introduced. But finding a good 2X AGP is hard to do.

I need to upgrade my processor for that....Does the Pentium III processesors use the same pin configuration as the PII?

Yes.
However, if I were you, would go for a 1ghz Celly (22$) and a late-model S370 mainboard or Slot-1 adapter. Some of the later S370 mainboards had AGP4x, which is compatible with modern AGP8x cards. If you find an inexpensive mATX motherboard, you can use it for a SFF computer, an ideal LANparty box.
In the AGP4x range, see if you can find a GEforce4 TI 4400(about 60$) on e-bay, or if you can find one, a Radeon 9500. Both perform well enough to play Doom 3, and runs nicely on older computers.
