Hello Group

I'm going to build a new system so I am needing some clarification on which ram to use.

My cpu will be this: Intel Core2 Duo E6850 3.0GHz LGA775 1333MHz w/ 4MB, so I don't know what memory module to select to make sure that I will use the cpu at its best potential.

Of course I hope I got that question across correctly, do I use DDR400, DDR600, DDR 800,

this is what I mean 😱 😱 sorry for the stupid question. Right now I am totally punch drunk from all of the hardware-sites that I have been to in picking out what I need 🙂

The ideal scenario is to run your RAM at 1:1 ratio with your CPU. So 1333MHZ = 4 x 333MHZ (actual fsb) and with DDR2 that means you should buy DDR2-667 (2 x 333MHZ) unless you plan on overclocking. If you do plan on overclocking you can get DDR2-880 or DDR2-1066 for some headroom. You could also get DDR3-1333 and run the RAM at 1:2 ratio, if that's worth the price I don't know, I doubt it.
