    yeah, and the drivers will probably be more compatable with winXP as well, since you dont want to use 2012 driver on a 2004 machine ( I just made up that number as example). running drivers that were optimized in the lifetime of the machine before they started developing the next gen stuff is the most optimal thing you can do. install DX9 instead of DX12 or whatever etc. (i dont even no what its up to now)

    xp runs pritty good without any tweeks compaired to these other MS OS's. Theres ton's of tweaks but i found most are pointless or even sometimes counter productive, and some others just noticably irrelevant. ill list a few that you may or maynot already know, in 2 sections though becuase if you dont plan on having a backup(unless u dont care 4that particular machine) some of the tweaks probably should be avoided.

    [These r normal settings if u dont no were thy r just ask]
    $ Set Pagefile to C: to min/max : 2048/2048
    $ xp visual effects custom low
    $ Disabled Desktop cleanup wizard
    .............. $ Display properties/Desktop/Customize/Cleanup
    $ Disabled Recycle bin
    $ Disabled Windows /Restore /Updates /Remote
    $ Disabled Sys properties /Error reporting /Auto restart
    $ Disabled /syncronize time with Internet server
    $ Disabled Indexing service for hard drives

    .............. Disable = $ Messenger
    .............. Manual = $ Portable media serial#
    .............. Disable = $ Remote Registry
    .............. Disable = $ Security Center

    $ exctrlst can disable Performance Counters[simply by clearing that checkbox from each listed service]

    [To Allow View of Date/Time in non Admin User Accounts]

    > Double click \Change the system time
    > \Add User or Groupe, Use user "INTERACTIVE" for All Users

    [Registry Edits]

    > Type "INTERACTIVE" and click “Check names” then hit OK
    > Checkboxes in Allow column \Set value, and \Create Subkey, then hit OK
    > Repeat above for \PowerPolicies key

    $ If running old nvidia as you r, I'd do this. Enable Coolbits, then
    .............. $ Set Direct3D pre-rendering frames = 0
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvTweak]
    "Coolbits"=dword:00000003

    If you havea good packup like i do, or just dont giva crap, can also do this..
    $ Disable WindowsFileProtection WFP
    .............. $ After Reg modified >sfc /purgecache or manually delete DLLcache contents
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "SfcQuota"=dword:00000000
    "SFCDisable"=dword:ffffff9d

    Theres a few mose settings but thats mostly preference, some of these are even preference, but thats the gist of it. Aside from the fact if you already realize or not just fyi, anti-virus an anti-spyware will also waist your resources if you use'm. I personaly just prefer to creat a clean backup when your already in the middle of setting it up.
