Just built a system with MIS K7t Pro with 1 GIG thunderbird and it's not running like I expected. it's not really that much faster than my old K6 III 400, Sometimes I even think it's slower. Not into overclocking, I expect it to be at least 50% faster than my old system. Am I wasting my money here or what. Here's what I got.

MSI K7tPro
1gig Thunderbird
20 gig Quantum 66 (first IDE primary, nothing on slave)
8 gig WD (second IDE primary)
256 Meg of ram
32 Meg AGP ATI expert
Creative DVD rom x2
Sony CDR-W
Win 2k with service Pack 1

Help me tweak the Bios which I'm not really good at it yet.

Thanks

set ram to cas 2-2-2, eneable 4 way interleaving (I think your board has that, if not flash the bios) oh yeah flash the bios, sometimes that can help things. set your memory timings to turbo, enable read around write. these are the big ones that will help. the reason you arn't seeing an increase of speed may be the applications you are using. for example: your not going to notice solitare running at 1000 FPS rather than 400 fps. what applications do you run on your computer?

May want to flash to the newest ver. bios, load the latest official VIA drivers, 4.25a or 4.28 . Leave the memory set to spd for best results.

I see you have a Pro not a Pro2A it may be different. but on the 2-A if you set the ram timings manually you lose the 4 way and the memory scores suffer.
