don't ask me how it happened, but it happened... and i'm trying to fix someone's computer:

so, it's basically a brand new sony vaio desktop... but the cd drives (pioneer dvdrw 109 & sony dvdrom ddu1615) no longer work... in the device manager both show up but have that yellow cautionary yellow logo on 'em...

things i've tried: uninstall & resinstall
install the drivers found on pioneer site and sony site

any suggestions??

try different cables.
try one drive at a time.
try the drives in another system if no luck.
try another drive in that system.

can you post back with the result

Also try finding the ATA/IDE drivers for the sony system...

My file server was doing that with the 2 Hard Drives on the secondary IDE channel. It turns out that one of the drives was bad, once replaced the drives on that IDE port worked flawlessly once again.
