Here is my system:

Asus P5KE motherboard
4 gb (2x2 gb) Adata PC6400 DDR2
Intel quad core Q6600
Western Digital 500 mb SATA HDD
Western Digital 250 mb SATA HDD
EVGA Nvidia 8600gt 512 mb GDDR3
Antec Sonata 3 case with Antec 500W PS
Samsung CD/DVD drive
Win XP Pro SP2

Here is the software:

MS Office 2003 student edition (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
Adobe Reader 8
Adobe Photoshop Elements 5
Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum
Sony DVD Architect 4.5
Print Shop 22
Spyder3 Pro
Deep Burner DVD burning software
HP C7280 driver/software

Normal Boot up times:

Push power button 0:00
Win XP splash screen 0:40
Win XP Welcome screen 1:10
Desktop Wallpaper 1:45
Desktop icons appear 3:10
Cursor hourglass disappears 3:30

Diagnostic Startup boot times:

Push power button 0:00
Win XP splash screen 0:40
Win XP Welcome screen 1:09
Desktop Wallpaper 1:42
Desktop icons appear 1:44
Cursor hourglass disappears 1:45

My normal boot time seem slow, especially that 2 minute wait between the Welcome screen and the appearance of the icons.

Any suggestions of what I should do now to figure out what is causing this delay and how I can cut it down?

If you have a lot of stuff on your HD, it's sometimes takes Microsoft a while to up load it all to their servers. Just be patient.

Go to run and type in msconfig. After that, go into startup and uncheck all the things that you dont want to load when you start your computer and click ok. Restart and see if it helps.

Tank, that is my next step. I thought I'd ask here first before I start that tedious process.

Doomer, I've been using MS stuff for so long I'd think they'd have a complete file on me by now...
