Hello guys,

So, I have an older PC, a few years old. A couple of months ago, I started getting serious issues with my graphics card where my PC would crash from anything visually demanding, even YouTube videos. I ended up diagnosing it as a failing video card, and purchased a new card even though I realze it's an old PC and I need a new build, I just don't have the money for it right now. I bought a brand new RX580, installed it and the problems went away. However, a couple days ago, the same issues are coming back. When playing video games, I am starting to get visual artifacts, then game crashes or system freezes. I also had a display driver stopped working but recovered error and I updated all my display drivers to newest version.

Any idea on what's going on and what else I can try? I really can't afford a new build right now and just spenr $300 on a new GPU.

Thank You.

How old, what brand/model and wattage is your PSU? Sometimes, when the PSU gets old or starts to go bad, it can manifest itself intially as GPU crashes, since they are the most power-hungry device in most PCs.

Most OEM and case PSUs, will last 3 years, better ones 5, and name-brand retail aftermarket PSU with Japanese capacitors, 5-10 years.

A good yardstick is the warranty length. If you've exceeded your warranty, it may be time to replace your PSU. Especially if you're having symptoms.

That said, try borrowing one from a PC friend you know, rather than buy a new one, initially, just for testing.

That's what I suspected too, but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it.

I have a Seasonic M12II-650 BRONZE ATX 650 Power Supply, it is 5 years old right now like the rest of my PC. Any way to diagnose it without trying another one because I don't know anyone in real life who can lend me one.
