help me to pick a good agp video card

i have a 2.8 p4 800 cpu
ocz pc4000 ram 1 gig
and Abit Ic7 motherboard


the video card usually use for games likes doom3 and half life 2 and watch video files







the card cannot be over 100.00

Yeah, 9600pro or XT would probably be the best you can get with only $100. Not exactly a cutting edge for those games, but should be able to run them at mid-low settings.

ya go with a past gen ATI card cuz the FX line from nvidia sucks with dx9 games

The FX5600 isn't an especially powerful card, esp in HL2. That 9700 Pro you mentioned earlier or even a 128MB 9600XT would outperform a 5600 regardless of how much video memory it has.

check out the FS/T forum. See if you can get a 9700pro or a vanilla 9800. Should be possible for about 100$

for a relatively short time ATI made a Radeon 9800. No Pro, no XT no SE... just 9800. They were relatively inexpensive and overclocked to pro levels very easily. If you are lucky perhaps you can find a used one in your price bracket.

I would go with the 9600XT, but you seem to WANT to get an nVidia card when everyone else is saying go ATI. Is there a specific reason for this?

it just almost everyone want to get a nvidia video card and few people wants ati video card.
