Help me think of a name for a telescope...

My school is having a contest to name the telescope it just donated to our local astronomy society. $50 to the winner. I'm looking for people that have been significant in space, physics, etc. For example, "Carl Sagan Memorial Telescope." Something along those lines. Thanks alot!

umm you wouldn't name it Carl Sagan Memorial Telescope unless Carl Sagan donated it himself. Same goes for any other famous physicist or astronomer.

How about: Skyeye? nah I dunno

In that case, what would be a cool name without naming it after/for someone?

How about naming it in memory of the Columbia shuttle crew?

I nominate Michael Anderson

I thought about that, but I dont think it would be right to name it just for one of them. Maybe naming it Columbia? I'm also considering "Demeter" the goddess of earth and harvest. I live in Iowa so I think it may be somewhat fitting.

J.A. Wheeler or I.D. Novikov would be my picks.

You could also do Chandrasekhar, but they named an X-Ray scope Chandra recently.
