Just graduated on Sunday. I sent out a ton of announcements and now I am reaping the rewards. I have about $3K and I'd really like to increase my nerd bleem.

Towards the top of my list is a new monitor. I still use a viewsonic 17" CRT. Its a kick ass monitor but I need more real estate. I know that dells 20.1" LCD Dell's 20.1" LCD is really nice and has a great response time. The price is nice to, leaving room for other things like a trip or something. I've always like the Apple Cinema Displays. The 23" is incredible but I dont' know much about it. I know that Sony makes a similar item that is more PC friendly. What do you think?

Other ideas are more than welcome.

Congratulations. How about taking a little trip somewhere and spending the rest of the 2 grand on new clothes for your impending career, a downpayment on a car, or buying a new system altogether?

Listen to this guy, you will never regret it, and you will have the memories forever.

Buy some f*ckin good ass coke and some f*ckin good ass weed and smoke coco puffs! Nah, but I would build an FX55 Athlon when those suckers come out along with a 6800 Ultra or something.

I disagree. If he wants to go to Europe than that's fine, but if he doesn't feel like traveling at this point in his life then why should he?

Get the monitor if you feel like it.

Half into an IRA or government security. Then blow the rest on whatever you want. You'll feel really good about that decision say 10 years from now looking back. Enjoy!

Yep. Travel now while you're not shackled to a job and all the other trappings of adult life. I used most of my grad $ to spend the summer racing my bike all over the US.

If you think you've got your financials set, you need a slap on the forehead. Theres NEVER enough saved when it comes to money man.

Totally. There's no way you can have your 'finances set'. You'll start a nice nest egg, plus have some fun.
