Help me spend money

OK the deal is i have to buy a SATA raid tonight! I need to fill up 16 slots with the best HDs i can and 300-500 gig in size

I have been a fan of Samsung and Hitachi in the past year but i am open to advice. Everyone keeps saying Seagate but i need reassurance on reliability. I cannot afford to have 20% failure in the next 30 days.

get seagates for the 5 year warrenty. or if reliability is a major concern for you and you have money to spend, get enterprise class drives. those have a really high MTBF or mean time before failure.

My first preference is WDs. If you like something else, then go for it. I've used Hitachi for my laptop drives and they're very good. But for me, WDs have been my main choice.

Seagate 500 GB 7200.10's, for sure. They're fast, and have a 5 year warranty, and it's a Seagate.

These are geared toward RAID systems and I'm not sure how they'll run if trying to run independently.
