Since he is upgrading from a PII 300, getting a new mobo/cpu means he needs new ram also. $150 for all three is a bit thin.

i just won $150 so i want to put it towards something

I think buy smth for you GF... It may pay off in the future (maybe). Think of it as possible dividends. Spending money on computer parts is kinda sucky IMO.

Buy an expensive bottle of JD as a gift for your girlfriend, and when she says she doesn't like whiskey, pretend to be shocked and say "well I can't let it go to waste" and proceed to get sh!yt faced.
