Okay, since can go to various different places and get completely different opinions on what to get, I'm gonna put this same question on a few different boards.

Only requirement are as follows.

AMD
NF4 SLI chipset
Everything needs to come from the same place.

I'll be using it primarily for games.

Need motherboard, processor, video card and memory.

It'll be a few days before I have the money to spend, so take your time.

How about you start out with some research for yourself? 😉 For a first build, you should really do some research so you get in the hang of things. Then get a general idea and ask us to proof read it. I can list some specs that I would go by, but after you get a little more expierence 🙂

check out anantech's price guides and search the forums for a good start

950 ehhh...
msi neo4 sli-$120
amd x2 3800-$380
geforce 7800gt-$370
1gb stick of corsair value-$100

comes to around $970

all from newegg.com

For starters, I've done my research. This certainly isn't going to be the first computer I've built. I've done around 200.

I have a general idea. I posted it above. I'm asking for opinions. Next time I want a response from you, I'll ask specifically for insults. With an attitude like that, I'm not interested in what you might list.

Yep cheezit is correct.

Also why are you gonna waste your time with a SLI chipset???? DUMB idea unless you are going to go with two NVidia cards in the next year or so, otherwise it's a waste!!!!

AMD 3800+
Epox 9npa+ Ultra (NON SLI) (SLI IS DUMB!!!!)
7800GT or wait for the next gen ATI cards.
2x1GB or Corsair Value Select

Should be right around $1000 after taxes and shipping, if you want to save a bit more drop down to a x800xl video card.

Guess again.

The ISP I used to work for in Southern California bought out a webhosting company that had 112 machines sitting around a room that they used for webservers. First thing we did was build all new 1u rackmount machines to replace them. I've lost track of the number of computers I've built for friends, family, myself and various other customers. Probably still sub-200, but awful close.

Let me clarify a little further:
All I'm asking for is opinions. I've only used Abit, Asus and MSI boards in the past and was curious to see if there were any other manufacturers that would be worth a shot. Same story on memory. Corsair still the best or would you suggest something different? Video cards? Processor is the easy part.

AMD Athlon X2 3800+
Epox 9npa+ Ultra
Nvidia 7800gt or ATI X1800
2x1GB OCZ Value RAM
120gb sata-ii hdd
450 Watts Power Supply
coolings and add-ons you need.

I would suggest you to raise some more bucks and buy the system next month becuase new generation of ATI cards are not release until end of this month.

sigh, how did I insult you in the first place? I was judging by the information you posted that you were a first time enthusiast. Wanting to help you by telling you where good information would be so you could have a source for all other builds too. Sure I could spit out specs in less than I typed previoulsly but how much would that help for the future? Its just like getting answers for a test. You also say I have an attitude?

Nevermind, its pointless trying to help a person like you

Yeah, I never saw where anything you said would be considered an insult even if he WAS a first-time builder.
