And...what's with Country "artists" covering all of those boy bands? Alabama did a song from NSYNC and I've heard the mrs. playing quite a few songs in the last couple of years on country stations that were covers of very recent pop/rock songs. No wonder country music is in trouble. It's total blech! And get a country station to play something off of O Brother Where Art Thou and what do they say? It's TOO country! LOL!!!

But...has anyone heard Dolly Parton's version of Collective Soul's Shine? Brings a whole new meaning to it...actually very good version.

Oh...for this poll? I voted All 4 One.

All 4 one. I listen to country music and turn off the radio whenever John M Montgomery comes on because of that song.

Actually, the country version came first. The "boy bands" tend to remake songs, not the other way around... for example, N Sync redid Christopher Cross's "Sailing" and Bread's "Everything I Own." All 4 One has redone at least two JMM songs ("I swear", and "I can love you like that") , and Chicago's "You're a hard habit to break," "So in love" (The Platters i think), and i'm sure some others.

Actually...doing a bit of checking both JMM and A4O released I Swear in 1994 (song was written by Baker/Myers)
Same goes for I Could Love You Like That.

Sounds like Baker and Myers just marketed their work very well that year.

Well, i knew JMM didn't write the song, but checking, i see you're correct that the A4O version was released the same year. It seems that for a lot of folks, whichever version they heard first is the one they prefer.

The albums were recorded probably at about the same time and probably even with knowledge of the other's, too. Songs can be released for ages but they were recorded long before. Look at U2 releasing stuff off of All That You Can't Leave Behind for over a year.
