Help me settle an argument here . . ..

Well, help me out here folks - are there aren FPS games out for the PC that supports a joypad? You heard right, a FPS for the PC that supports a joypad.

A buddy of mine, who's slowly getting into PC gaming from console, swore up and down that he would "whup" us using a joypad vs. me and his roommate using the tried-and-true keyboard+mouse method.

He's going to get a converter/adapter for his xbox controller (the big one, by the way - he doesn't like the small one), so I need to find a game where we can play together . . ..

I'm thinking Quake III Arena does this, but do you guys know if Unreal Tournament, any of them, support joypads?

EDIT: I've just re-installed Q3 and Q3:TA, and yeah, it does support Joypads! I'm thinking most FPS's do - Joy! Time to beat him down!

UT does. I used an N64 controller once for the hell of it. While I can say that the N64 controller is better-suited than most, it still sucks major ass compared to keyboard+mouse for FPS games.

Also:
Quake III Arena
Quake II
Quake

I would whip all of you into submission because you go to a crappy school. 😛

Don't know about games, but I'll say that I, too, like the big Xbox controller compared to the little one. I never did have any problems with that console's controller.

Both designs have their flaws, but the large controller is more flawed in my opinion.

Some people are ignorant. I have a couple of friends like that myself...

Halo does. A friend of mine has a pad just like the XBOX controller on his pc.

yes, but Halo is such a SLOOOWW game that kb+mouse don't give you quite the same advantage as, say, ut2k4.

If you really want to beat him down play something fast paced.

They're so ignorant, that they would think it was only a matter of practice and would spend hours with a gamepad. I didn't want to encourange that behavior, so I refused to connect a gamepad and insulted them to no end.

That's what I like to hear! Anyhow - do any of you guys know if the Serious Sam series is joypad-compatible? Or howabout No One Lives Forever 2?

No - unfortunately, he decided to try out the Keyboard+mouse option and suddenly he changed his opininon of the setup as "different".

Wuss.
