This is my first post on Anandtech forum.
I am planning to build a new AMD 64 system and would like to get some valuable help from forumers. I am new to OCing but would want to try it out. In fact this will be my first DIY AMD based system.
My system configuration would be as follows
1.Processor: AMD 64 939 winchester 3200+
What HSF should I go for?
2. Motherboard: Want to go for a good PCIe solution I might not do SLi currently but it is a good option may be for future.
Asus A8N Sli OR Asus A8N SLi deluxe Is deluxe worth it?
3. RAM: Looking for a 512MB X 2 PC 3200 RAM that can do 2-2-2-5 1t.
Want to choose from Ballistix and HyperX. Patriot not available in my country.
4.GPU : BFG not available in my country?
XFX force 6800 GT PCIe. I have seen some negative views on XFX GPU heatsinks. So I am thinking of putting Arctic Silencer NV5 VGA cooler.
Other option is leadtek 6800 GT with stock cooler.
Is Leadtek 6800 gt w/stock cooler better or XFX 6800 gt with NV silenser 5? Any suggestions? Might want to OC 6800 GT near 6800 Ultra speed.
5.HDD Wessern Digital Raptor II 74GB @ 10000 RPM
6.Optical drive: LiteOn 1673S DVD-/+RW DL ) or Pioneer DVR-108D OR Benq DW1620 Which one is Better????
7.Power supply: Antec TruePower 480 W or 550W How much is enough?
For my setup what is best(performance as well as value)??
Cabinet: Antec Super Lanboy Is it worth it ?? Coolermaster Wavemaster or Antec P160 which one is better for optimum cooling?
Or should I get for any other ATX Tower and modify it with extra exhaust fans and side panel?
Monitor: Currently I am keeping my 17inch CRT
System will be used basically for playing a few good FPS like HL 2 and Rome: Total war and . I would surely want to Overclock it to its limits.
I am keeping option of doing SLi for future as currenly not all games support SLi.
Everyone is free to comment on my selection config and sugestions are welcome.
And if anybody has faced with any issues during use/installation of any of aforementioned hardware please lemme know.
