I have little to offer you other than wishing you luck. I've yet to be able to successfully transfer mail & address book info in Outlook. That's the main reason I switched to Eudora. It has it's faults in other areas, but that thing is as portable as you can get. Copy the dir off to another drive, format & install new os, copy it back. Viola! It's completely uninvasive... unlike Outlook which melds into the os. Handy. Good Luck.

Hey bud!

Just export them to a file!! Goto File/Export to file type and choose .pst file. Then choose the folder you wanna export (the Inbox, Sent Items...) and pick a name for it! Make sure you also choose to include subfolders!!

When you want to look at those e-mails again, just import that .pst file the same way!

Or just drag and drop the e-mails to a folder on Media that you have (another HD or sumpin)'

and drag it back later!!

Outlook should be storing your email in C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\
Go there and look for a folder like {a46h35u3883358}, below that, Microsoft\Outlook Express\Inbox.dbx, etc.

Uh... there is one file that you should need to save your email w/Outlook 2000 - outlook.pst

just find it, put it on the other partition, then format, reinstall, then install outlook 2k again and import it. Works for me and I've formatted over 50 times within the past year on this machine.
