Help me research this chemical for chem honors, "NITROBENZENE"

I looked and looked, but i cant find any real info, down and dirty about what it is for and what it is. All i know is the chemical formula and its used to make anline?

Nitrobenzene is use for its high Kerr effect/cell abillity (LCD, Acousto-Optic, and Ferro-Optic, Opto-Elastic Modulator/Shutter). You should take a look at Semiconductors & Kerr effects.

what's even more fun is if you start out with toluene and triple nitrate it to get trinitrotoluene. or start out with phenol to get trinitrophenol
