ok, i must warn you that i have used my google-fu and i have not had any success.

i'm looking for a (educated guess) early 90s or late 80s videogame, which could have been on the C64 or Amiga (probably Amiga) but not necessarily on the PC since i didnt own one until 1998.

It was a sci-fi videogame where you assembled a team of 5 or 6 and got on your spaceship; there would be ship-to ship combat in 2D and you had an option to [shadow] the enemy ship so you would follows the same movements.
there were no vehicular missions, but you did board ships and space stations, and then the combat shifted to a "select character option" system similar to Bard's Tale, without animations.

I remember there was a main quest which was not given directly to the player (you had to figure it out on your own from the clues), and at the end you fought the Queen of an alien empire, but you needed to find the coordinates to her hideout first.

I remember the second-to last weapon was a Panzerfaust, which although it was comical that it had a name from WW2, it was an awesome weapon as you could [Intimidate] enemies, and the PF had such a ridiculous Intimidate score, that you basically just made every enemy shit their pants and surrender.

It was NOT Space Rogue. It was NOT StarFilight 1 or 2(although the UI and graphics quality are very similar, so it must have been from 1992 or so), it was not a name of any major franchise (Spelljammer, Buck Rogers, etc), it was not Hard Nova ..

that's all i can remember.

some edits:
this was a RPG; i'm not sure if there was any levelling, i think the primary thing was that you bought your crew better armor and weapons.

i *think* your characters were all human. there might have been an element of exploring planets on the main map to gather resources.

DAMN I FOUND IT.

Star Command, Amiga, 1988. Not Panzerfaust, but rather Panzerjaeger.

i swear i googled harder then any man has googled before, but did not find it until this very thread. or maybe i subconsciously knew that if i started this thread, i would find it.

the game was great for 1988, it didn't receive much attention; i bought it because it was published by SSI, which was a quality brand. They were the ones behind all the AD&D videogames, i was a RPG nut, so i bought it.
My guess is that it didn't fit with the rest of the SSI stuff, so they didn't really try to push it.

I have fond memories of this game, and it's one of the few games that i have ever played twice .. before all this "New Game Plus" nonsense started being everywhere. What was really great about it is that it was fairly difficult, and it didn't even try to tell you about the main quest, you were left to your own devices and could just wander around without ever figuring out how to end the game.

The difficulty level really dropped once you got to endgame gear, but you could still lose if you ignored PSI defense.
