It was a game that I played probably in the late 1990s

It was a turn based strategy game where you were the head of a mercenary organization and you could take jobs from clients and build a mercenary crew by hiring them and buying equipment for them before sending them off.

This was NOT Jagged Alliance!

The main interface was a office desk where you had for example a folder to access your mercenary stats, a weapons catalog to order equipment, a laptop to hire people, etc...

It was definitely alot like Jagged Alliance, pretty much a clone of it

It was based on contemporary era - late 1990s, so had the typical guns and equipment from that time. And the people who were called to fight were usually dictator forces or terrorists and stuff.

Any idea?

I know exactly what you're talking about. I almost feel like it wasn't turn-based though. It had co-op play and I remember it being kind of buggy. I want to say the name was something like Shadow Force, but that is definitely not what it was called.

Hmm, that is awfully close but I am pretty sure that is not it. For example I dont remember ever seeing tanks in the game. And the desk looks different too as well as some difference in the interface and art style.

Doing some digging around I found another game which looks really close but not quite:

7.62 High Calibre
(sequel to Brigade E5)

But it looks even less familiar than Shadow Company

There's also:
Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge

But this was just released like 4 years ago so definitely not it. Also it doesnt look the same either.

But you are right it might not be actually officially turn based game, but it might be like a pause & go system. I just know it was a isometric squad based view and you can issue orders to your squaddies while game is paused

Really weird why I cant find this game...

I totally know the game that you are talking about. I can't remember what it is called either. I had a great time with that game. Makes me wonder what I ever did with all my old game CD's.

Have been trying to remember this one for a long time as well. I remembered playing it at a friends house in 8th grade, so I looked him up on Facebook and asked him.

Wages of War: The Business of Battle

There are screen shots there and you can read their review which is what confirmed it for me.

Holy shit, that's the one!!!!

Sorry I didn't notice your post in all this time lol, and it was your only post in 2 years, so THANKS!

That game was SOOOO fun I would go crazy for an updated version of it
