Help me remember the name of special liquor

I was at my cousin's wedding, and I got offered a shot of this clear liquor in a bottle. They said the name of it many times, but being that it was foreign and long, I couldn't keep it for long.

The special thing about this liquor was that it was originally an old Nordic liquor, and in order for it to get it's name, the bottle has to first travel around the world in a boat.

Akvavit?

It was good, sweet. I wouldn't spend a ton of money to get my hands on some, but yeah, if you can get some at a decent price, good times.
