Help me remember a movie i saw when i was a kid

Hey guys,

Need a favour from my fellow AToters.

I remember that i liked a movie a lot when i was a kid , and now for the life of me i cant remember what it was called or what i was about. all i remember is a scene from it.

I couldnt have been older then 10 or 12 years old ( 1990 - 1992 ) so the movie had to have been made during or before the 80s.

The scene i remember is of an ambush in the Desert. I remember that there were a bunch of arabs all dressed in white (or black) marching in a column , and they were ambushed by other arabs dressed in the opposite color firing on them from the hills to either side of the column.

I remember thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

been trying to remember for years....

anyone seen it?

(and no , its not Lawrence of Arabia)

EDIT: I guess it is called "The Beasts of War".

Although it was Soviets vs. Afghanis and the Afghanis were the good guys. They made us watch that like day 3 of infantry school. It sucked.

Aint that about a Soviet tank crew during the soviet afghan invasion? if so , thats not it. 🙁
 
Ok, I have a movie I can't think of either:

It is some sort of 80s fantasy movie. Early in the movie the hero pulls some sort of chakram weapon with white teeth looking barbs around it that is kinda alive out of water. He meets a princess and then at the end of the movie confronts some awesome evil which is only beaten when the chakram sacrifices itself to grind at the villian.

Any clue what that is?

from your description, it totally sounds like lawrence of arabia, of which there are multiple versions (try looking for "7 pillars of wisdom").
