Ugh why is this BS so difficult?

Okay so ive updated my phone to use cyanogenmod 9.0, its missing a few basic features that my S2 could do with the stock firmware, like being able to look through frickin folders for a start or bring up a task manager... no biggie i guess i can install apps and bring it up to speed. Problem is the fooking app store tells me everything is already installed on my device, it thinks i have gmail, and XBMC remote and the RBS banking app. How do i install these things if it thinks i already have them? Is there a manual file install i can do or what??

CM9 should be able to create folders on the home screens or the storage through File Manager without issue? What do you mean 'look through folders'? Task managers aren't really necessary with stock Android either, only with bloated carrier/manufacturer skins.

Normally when you flash CM, if you had the back up options selected, apps will redownload and install. Takes some time, if you had a lot of apps or are on a slow connection. You do, however, have to flash the google apps, gmail, gtalk, Play, etc, separately since they are proprietary apps. If you don't flash that gapps zip, you won't see any Google apps on your phone, Play Store included.

Are you looking on the web Play Store or on the Play Store on your phone? If the Play Store on your phone is saying all the apps are Installed, then they are most definitely installed.

I didnt back up anything because i only had the google stuff and two other apps. Im downloading the gapps package right now, hopefully reflashing that and then going to the store on my phone it will detect the apps are no longer installed and let me install them.

Why arent task managers neccesary? What happens to apps once i hit the home button, arent they just left running in the background sucking battery? Ive never really been sure about what android does with apps so ive always just closed stuff manually with the task manager.

Also, even if the Play Store website says an app is installed when it's not, you can always just click the "Installed" button and trigger a remote re-install.
