Might be a Greasemonkey script. You need the Greasemonkey addon and then Google greasemonkey scripts and search for XenForo. Just be aware that scripts could be made with malicious intent.

Definitely a learning curve to CSS. Here's what I've come up with so far. Kill ads. Kill the right column. Kill the animated green beacon. Change some spacing. Slightly darker gray. Dark page background. Square avatars. Some other stuff on the forum list page.

There's several quicky addons for firefox, and they give varying degrees of control. They'll work to make things darker *now*, but stylish and time is the way to do it right.

I'm using this for firefox android...

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/darkenbackground/

It's a global style, and it just takes the edge off bright backgrounds. For sites I frequent, I prefer a specific style either found, or that I create, but this helps with nasty bright surprises.

My background here is a medium cream. I'd show you, but I'm not sure how to get a screenshot of the browser window.

It definitely works, but I don't know how to access the functions of it...no icon where my addons are. I guess I could get used to this cream colour. :)

Try clicking on the addon in your addons menu. Then play around with the different settings. It's not my favorite way to recolor sites, but it works. Anything is better than a white background.
