help me plz...im new

i want to buy a cd rw, and my dad has finally agreed which is like greatest thing you know? and now that ive been looking and shoping around..i tlak to one of my friends and he said to buy a new cpu, motherboard, and ram just to be able to fully support tha cd rw i want..this is what my friend: asus motherboard, celeron cpu, and a 100pc ram thingy...the thing is..i want tha plexwriter 8x/4x/32x cd rw...but im afraid of wut i have now wont support it...i have a 200MHz pentium(r) 96MB of RAM taht runs at 5400rpm, my hardrive is big, 15 gigs..and tahts all about i know about tha specs...can i get any help like what steps i should take or anything...jsut anything..links of good prices and stuff...i realy want this cd writer..and i dun really want a 4x/4x/32x..cuz tahts a lil too slow for my taste unless i dun really have a chice...so jsut any help advicce or whichever..anything!!! thanx for yout time in reading my long plead...

I'm pretty sure your system will run fine with the burner. Just read the label on the box for minimum system requirements. You definitely have enuff RAM and HD space. You probably have to close all programs and not do any activities on while burning but it should be ok. BTW 4x burners are WAY too slow!!! (Secret: buy your burner @ best buy and get the service plan. Althought it costs more, you WON'T regret it 2 years from now!!! -insider info)
