Help Me Please: How to tell if your headphones are dying?

I have a pair of Sony MDR-V300. These are l337 headphones, 30mm drivers with neodymium magnets. The headband and casing is in very good condition. I bought these becuase I love the smooth bass they produced. I am a bass freak, I alway have the bass pumped up on my computer and anything I listen on. But lately they haven't been perfoming like they used to do about 6 or so weeks ago. Are the magnets getting weak? Or has the suspension just worn itself from out giving the sweet bass so long. But these are only a year and a half old! Are they dying? If they are tell me so I can get a job and buy some nice ones. Please leave your advice and some resommendations if I need new headphones. I have a budget (in the air) of about $50. Thanks .🙂

no idea, i have heard of good Sony models (i own a pair of MDR-V6 modded with beyerdyanmic velour pads 😀) lasting for 5 years or more. When i was researching the purchase, i went to some audiophile forums and lurked a little. For detailed tech help, its best to go search over there...i forget the exact sites though..i know some of them are AT-ers as well..good luck!
