Help me Please - don't make me keep this crummy V5 5500 - Probs with my TNT2

I'm having issues with my TNT2 and my Via chipset



This is driving my nuts, I have installed the newest 4 in 1 drivers, the agpgart drivers and the new 5.22 and 5.30 drivers. What happens is when I go to open either UT or D2 the computer stops sending a signal to my moniter. The wierd thing is that when D2 gets to the menu screen I get a signal back but as soon as I try to go to gameplay I lose signal again.

I have a V5 that I bought because I wanted to see if it was the motherboard, well the V5 works fine which pisses my off because I want a CLAP2 but am worried that if I can't get the TNT2 to work then will I be able to get the CLAP2 to?

One other thing the Det 3.68 drivers work fine for UT but not for D2

So when you went to the store and they had all those videocards, instead of buying something for $60 just to test a mb you spent $300? WTF did you buy it for then if you think it sucks?

I was unbiased about the card before I bought it, I had over $600 in my amazon account and they are very limited on the cards they carry. I wanted to get a card that if it wasn't the MOBO I would be able to sell somewhat easily. at the time I liked what I had read about the V5 but after owning it I'm not pleased.

Would you care to clarify why you think the V5 5500 sucks, theres many people who see 3dfx's style of FSAA as a must have feature.

You can make baseless statements like the V5 5500 sucks, and then you can be surprised and annoyed when people question you as to why you think it sucks, you can but it makes you look foolish on a hardware board.

Whatever with the V5!(-some people are so damn tetchy. . .)
I believe there may be problems with the D2 drivers in Win98 for the TNT2 and AMD chipsets: I installed D2 drivers with the updated Via driver ensemble and found that the screen resolution maxed out at 640x480. I reinstalled the standard 3.68 drivers and had no subsequent problems. That's what I'd recommend.
On the other hand, the D2 drivers work in W2000 and are clearly better than the system presets. Good luck. -m

Orbius - Why should I have to state my opinions on why I think its crummy(I never said it sucked) when the question I'm asking have nothing to do with the V5. I bought the card, I have used the card, and I don't think the card is worth the money, hense I think the card is crummy.
