I need to make plans for my vacation this summer. I live in Texas, so I want to go somewhere that it isn?t 105? every day. Last summer I went to South Dakota, and camped for 10 days. I want to go somewhere that I can camp? it?s fun, and it?s cheaper than a hotel. Give me some good places, and list reasons why I should consider them. Vacation time will most likely be some time in the middle of July.

Michigan is beautiful in the summer....like "up-north" michigan, on the west side of the state....or what about some place like Maine?

my wife(then gf) went to acadia nat'l park in maine. there are many campground there and the hiking is incredible, there's not a lot of people, and the views are spectacular(imo). we ended up staying at b&b's instead of campgrounds though, but otherwise it would have been very inexpensive. we went for a week in july 2000.

Go to "da" Pocono's!

I went a few years ago and it was great! :)

Hopefully I will get to go back next year. :)

Go to one of the mountain areas in Wyoming or Montana. The Bighorns, Beartooths, or Wind River areas are all great. There are plenty of places you can get to on foot, or if that's not you thing you can even get all of your gear in by horse. If you go in July there shouldn't be too much snow left in the higher elevetions, especially considering how low the snow pack has been in the last few years. It will definitely not be 105 degrees, but make sure to check the fire danger of the area you want to go.

Edit: Just curious, but where in South Dakota did you go. I grew up there.

Nice suggestion. I live in Maine, and that Acadia is a very beautiful place to visit. Since your in the area I suggest going to Bar Harbor too (Only about 10 mins or so away).

We stayed at the KOA at the base of Mt. Rushmore... used it as a base camp. We went all over, though. Drove up into Montana, Devil's Peak in Wyoming, Lead, Deadwood, Jewel Cave. It was great.
