that'll probably fit the bill. Just swap out the 2 drives for one, 1TB SSD

That's your call, yeah. A single large SSD is going to be more expensive per GB, but be easier to use/manage.

My dad's DAW has like 6 hard drives in addition to the boot SSDs (one Windows, one Linux), but he doesn't mind juggling that stuff.

For audio, honestly, anything over 500GB is plenty of space.

Yeah - his instruments alone are 500GB so... he's hellbent on 1TB minimum for now. This is his "screw around" PC at home. He has a complete recording studio with all kinds of crap in there for "real work"

Oh, he's a composer. Got it. ;)

The instrument samples do take a lot of space: me, I just record/tweak/publish. My parents raised an acoustic guy.

He's not a composer per se.

He's a musician (well, if you can call a drummer that :))
Who owns and operates a recording studio as the primary $$ income
Who also now wants to get into "composing" music for TV/games/etc

I was also the drummer for a jazz band when in high school - I'll always remember the old joke - want to make a drummer panic? . . . hand him the orchestration score! :)

Nice studio.

Yeah - it's his 3rd location. It's been fun watching his business grow. He used to be a listener of my radio show and we just sort of became buds from that and apparently he has talent. Constantly booked and "the guy" around these parts to record with.
