You are just a source of never-ending puns, aren't you? ;)

2 is cool, but not really "schoolish." I voted 6.

I'm torn between 4 and 5. I voted 5, but I think both are equally good.

1- Too many black lines in the background.
2- Very cool, but not appropriate for a school logo
3- The DNA makes it look like the logo says MOYBEL. The design just doesn't do it for me.
4- Simple and to the point. It rocks
5- More "complex" but still clean and professional. Also rocks.
6- Too much "bounce" for a school logo. Almost looks silly.
7- Clean, except for the "torn" look of the fonts. Also not professional enough for a school logo.

Most of them have various effects which really distract from reading the logo itself. A logo needs to be clean and simple; it is not a demonstration of one's imagination and 3d skillz. Plain and simple logo are much more memorable (the blue Dell, the sliced IBM, the Apple's apple).

Also, text itself needs to be readable, and on many of those logos colors are not very well contrasted and fonts are somewhat... not ideal ;)

Sorry, hope this works as constructive criticism for you.

I guess the first one, but the several words under the main text are pretty hard to read... Maybe you could change the font?

from this remark and others, it seems that i slightly missed the mark in designing my logos. back to the drawing board in hopes of designing a cleaner logo.

No, that mohel (pronounced moyle). <shudder>

Anyway, considering it's Cornell, I voted #2. In fact, before I realized it was for Cornell but had seen #2 I thought, "Hmm, that would be nice if it was for Cornell."

I'll be there next year!
