Current setup: D-Link DI-604 with 3 comps attached, one of the comps has a HP LaserJet 1100A hooked up to it. Right now we have it set up as a shared printer, but that means we still have to turn on the comp it's hooked up to in order to use it. It'd be awesome if we could get rid of that dependency.

The DI-604 is showing signs of imminent death, so now would be a good time to replace it with something we can plug the printer into. Is this possible if all the printer has is a parallel port?

If it is, what would it take?

If it isn't, then what would be a decent replacement for the DI-604? The DES-1005D looks good and it's pretty cheap, should I go with that or is there something better out there? Note that I have no need for wireless.

Eek, $80 for that thing alone? I think I'll pass. :

I don't suppose there's something that serves both as a router and that printer server thingy, is there?

I have an old Siemens SpeedStream router with a parallel port that can do want you want. They're discontinued, though. I've also found print servers on eBay for like $20.
