Help me pick the best card..I am running an x1900xtx now.

I play Quake 4 99.9% of the time. I expect to keep playing it as no other games really interest me at this time.

I am running a C2Duo at 3.2ghz with a gig of memory on a 22" widescreen at 1650x1080 (me thinks 🙂)
What would you pick? I am running XP now, but will be moving to Vista shortly.

Thanks

X1900XTX can run Quake 4 perfectly fine at your resolution. It's still a fast card. I would get an extra gig of ram when you move to Vista (or even if you don't). Other than that I think you should wait for GF9 or R700, or for 8800GTX to come down in price.

Yes it runs it fine, but what about games that only run under Vista that are on the horizon? COD 4 will probably be my next game I play.

I know of no game that will only run in Vista. Nor do I see that happening for a couple years.

Now you won't be able to run the DX10 path, but DX9 will be supported for a long while yet.

Wait till November mate, Nvidia are supposed to be releasing a new lineup of DX10, but if you dont want to spend a fortune then get an 8800GTX at the end of November as by this time the price will of dropped dramatically. (well hopfully anyway)

Don't Halo 2 and Shadowrun run Vista-only?

Both of them pretty much flopped on the PC, though.
