help me pick out a P/S

I have a comp, which you guys have told me that a high quality 250w ps will handle, but I want plenty of expansion room(my 486 at one point had 7 out of 8 of it's slots filled)
the main things I want are:
1.a price not exceeding(or close)$50
2.a high quality p/s
3.it MUST pump a lot of air out of my case(no room for any other exhaust fans)

Link to the one I am thinking about

something else is that I have a mid-atx case, and so the p/s has been rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise, which means that the p/s I was thinking of would suck on exactly the same point as my cpu fan.

Another way to explain this would be that if the p/s got .75 of an inch closer, it would be sitting on top of my cpu with the intakes touching

would this be a problem with the fans not having air to suck?

so, I have 2 q's
1. is the proximity of the cpu to p/s going to give me problems
2. did I pick the p/s(suggestions)?

All of the specs I can think of: (including some components I don't have in there because I don't think my current 250w m-tec p/s can take the strain - it get's WAY too hot to the touch already, and voltages are low)
2 hd's(6gb wd, 13gb quantum caviar)
1 floppy drive
1 cd-rw drive
1 zip drive
abit nf7 mobo
axp 2000+
4.1 prowler sound card by mad dog
radeon 9000 vivo 64mb
video capture card(because the video-in on the radeon wasn't good)

THANKS!

Look at the amps. You will need 12v@25-30amps. not 12amps. 12 volt rail needs at least 25 amps. I don't know about finding a psu at $50.00 with the right dipersement of amperage per rails.
especially with all the peripherals you want to use.
Try Enermax or Antech brands...however will cost about 70.00.

I think you are right, 12 amps just isn't right - I was wondering about that, but I wasn't sure what I needed.

It seems that people are complaining of high pitched noises coming from the enermax power supplies, which just isn't acceptable. I don't mind a fan hum, but high picthed noises just drive me nuts.

also, I would like the p/s to pump some air, which the enenrmax powersupplies (at least according to the reviews) don't do 😉.

at any rate, I'm looking at:

some one complained of the high-pitch wine, but it probably pumps air, so maybe it's different:

Enermax 350w

and, the antec:

Antec smartpower

thanks for the help so far! I would like to know which one (or maybe I'm totally wrong) I should buy. I am also kind of on a time constraint, as I know I'm overpowering my current p/s

THANKS!

The Fortron you posted is an excellent PSU. It moves quite a bit of air, it's silent, and it's well built. I have the 300w version of that PSU in the tbred rig in my sig. I love it.

There's no way you'd be using even close to 20A on the +12v rail. A highly overclocked CPU will draw less than 8A (96W) on the +12v rail. Your 2000+ will draw 62.5W if it's a Palomino core, 54.7W if it's a Thoroughbred core. Unless you left 5-6 120mm tornados out of your description, your 12v+ loads will be very reasonable.

Beatle is correct...but what if you want to add or upgrade compnants? why pay 50.00 for a just adequate psu when for 20.00 more you have a psu that you won't have to worry aboput computer add ons / upgrades. BTW, we have an Enermax and haven't noticed much of a whine, but then noise isn't a big issue with us. There is an enermax with a variable speed fan. Anyway, best of luck and Happy Holidays.
