I checked into the 325i and it looks pretty nice. Only thing I'm concerned about is that on carreview.com many people complained about reliabilty problems and expensive parts on this car. Also, would this car carry a high insurance premium because it is a BMW?

bmw's are expensive to maintain, and thus, as all german cars, fall apart when not maintained.

the scheduled services on the ole 325i are quite a bit, and are yearly.

Avoid a bmw, unless it has a warranty. I know i've been there.

Hay: Call up progressive or state farm and ask for each style of car before considering it. they will be glad to quote you rates, all day long for as many cars you are considering.

my old 90 mustang lx 5.0 5-speed was considered a "sedan" , so it was like $80/month for insurance. :) unless mommy is paying for insurance, you probably don't want to get into the $200-250/month insurance bracket, its very easy.

(btw, my 95 cavalier is more to insurance than a 90 mustang, and just a tad bit below our 01 jetta gls vr6).

You can pick up a mid-nineties 929 or Millenia for under $10K. Maybe not a sports car per se, but the chics will dig it.

STICKING TO THE POINT OF THE THREAD CREATOR

good luck finding a decent gsx, the all wheel drive where limited and somewhat rare, they are bad a$$ cause its more mitsubishi under the hood, unlike some of the chrysler crap they had in the rs/gs. the gsx made road and tracks 8 great rides, so it got some credential behind it. the lower rs/gs had electrical probs big time, i had an RS, and the ecu died......twice. (cuz chrysler is suck). bad turning radius, so invest in a tie bar, best 100 bucks you will ever spend, they interior is something else, it makes you feel like your in a cockpit and more than some just boring square panels everywhere, its a sporty interior that takes the driver into appreciation. the 2nd gen was easily the most aggresive looking compact car of its time.

<< Eclipse Sypder - Very rare, I believe it's FWD turbo just like the GS-T, only it's a soft top. >>

dude, the spyder just meant convertible, but only the gs and gst where made in spyder form, but no gsx convertible....

gst/gsx had 8g turbos, leather, whole nine yards on gsx, take it or leave it, where as the gsx had some options.

I would say an early 90's Nissan 300ZX but you might have a hard time finding that under $10K.

Maybe a mid 90's Nissan 240SX? Or a Mazda MX-6? I don't know if these are sporty enough for you, just throwing some ideas out there. :)
