CPU/Mobo will be upgraded as soon as haswell hits, so that wont be a concern. I do have 3x 23.6" LCDs for Surround/Eyefinity.

I would think we are less than 6 months away from next gen video cards, so I'd wait.

I'd wait. The next gen isn't too far away now and should offer better bang for the buck than the current gen.

That's way too much money unless you're doing something nuts.

The new stuff will be out before Haswell hits, so you may as well wait and get 2x high-end cards then or you'll feel like a chump for spending all the money now :p

Since you're currently using an AMD system (8150) I'd opt for 2x 7970s, maybe the 6GB versions. Then when you upgrade to Haswell you can do some 7xx SLI or 8xxx Xfire. /shrug...if you have to upgrade now, that is...

^ there is no synergy effect from running AMD/AMD. You can mix any way you want. 6GB versions are wasted money, 3GB is sufficient.

I'd get something like a 7800 to hold me over until the next gen comes. That will be a huge improvement over your 260. I certainly wouldn't spend $1200 on cards that are likely to be superseded in ~3-4 months.

This. 7870 or gtx660 for now as a placeholder.

I think the current rumors point to march/april for AMD. For Nvidia, I don't think there's been anything even rumored about a close release date (others may know about one, but I haven't seen anything).

Get a single 7970 for now and then get 2x the best new GPU early next year.

7970 Crossfire performs better than 670 4GB SLI and costs less. Just use RadeonPro for Crossfire and you'll have zero microstutter

And significantly less fps since you need to cap the fps to your min fps.
To buy now is not a good decision. If you keep such a setup for 2-3 years, you should be able to wait another 3 months.
