Help me pick my next monitor

I'm getting the Viewsonic, almost the same specs for $200 less. In the future I'm going to get at least a 1600x1200 resolution.

the viewsonics we have at work (17" and 18") are crap - picture is inferior to dell's lcds, cheap falling apart plastic stands, slow resolution changes, horrible slow wake up time, not bright enough for gaming (hard to differentiate even red and blue on dark backgrounds). just my experience

Weird, the Viewsonic we have here at home has none of those problems.

let me guess that's the only LCD you ever owned right ?

I also thought it was OK until I got a different one

What's wrong with the Monitor I'm Getting?

I did a little research on it. On paper, it's the same specs as the 191, except the 930 has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 vs. 800:1 on the 191. However, the monitor does use a slightly different panel, since the panel on the 191 is no longer being produced. A few people have posted initial impressions, but there have been no professional reviews yet.

It's probably fine, but there's no guarantee that it will be like the 191. If you do get it, please let us know how it performs.

Nope, not the only one I have ever owned...

At the prices you're looking at get a 2001fp or 2005fpw (my choice) -- you get way more pixels.

A 19" LCD should cost around $300 today.
