Starcraft BW is the best. ALot of people still play it but the level of competition is alot higher now so its hard for beginners to play it. But I'd say if you really know starcraft, it requires a tend of skill to play.

Well I went through basica training on the demo, the game does look and sound great thus far. Just wondering for the graphics, I am using a dell 1800FP LCD. it has a native res. of 1280x1024, but the default graphic settings for the game are at 1024x768. At that I get an average of 4.7fps. If I try to boost the res to 1280x1024, it doesn't seem to want to run the performance test. So should I levae the settings as they are, or should I up the res and lower some of the other settings, what is more important.

I left playing RTS a few years back. But till date the best RTS I played was AOM. Now it is quite old and you may or may not want to give it a shot especially when there is so much praise for Company of Heroes going around.

AOM is definately on my radar and one of my all time favorite RTS's, I am seriously considering picking it up, but this company of heroes looks good too.

Company of Heroes is an excellent game. Fast paced without being frantic, great graphics, great gameplay especially the cover system with deformable terrain.

What the differance in the total war series, it is just the local/time period?

pretty much the same where it's turn based for the strategic portion and RTS for the battle and you can do auto battles where you don't have to play it out and let the computer decide.

Big difference is RTW is more options like the Senate giving you missions to carry out and the movement is a lot better. MTW you move whatever the allowance is per year. RTW you can move, fight and then move again or use your navy to patrol.

MTW 2 is based on the RTW engine

How is the multiplayer for COH? Will it work with pings of 250-350? I love dawn of war online and zero hour aswell. (Damn Im an RTS whore 🙁 )

Man from what I am reading CoH is pretty hard. It looks fun, but reading some other threads, many people say that the first couple missions are fund but after that it can be frustratingly difficult

I managed to beat COH. Whenever I couldn't pass a mission I just had to change my fighting style and try some new things. Overall it was a pleasant experience and worth playing. Especially because I've been watching A LOT of world war 2 stuff on the history channel lately, not to mention watching band of brothers. So it was cool to see how everything matched up.

I agree with the Company of Heroes and Warhammer40k: Dawn of war - winter assualt - Dark Crusade. These 2 games are totally amazing and wil give you hours and hours of fun

Depending on your play style, Ground Control (1/2) may be something to look into. The first is a bit dated, but still fun (and *free* now) 🙂
