logitech....great stuff

Which model, do you recommend?

Q:
can you use camcorder as webcam?

If you have a video-in card of some sort you can use a camcorder as a webcam and the quality is alot better then a webcam.

Or it seems for a $20 driver you can trick the webcam software to see a firewire camcorder as a webcam. link

Not trying to crap on RossMAN, but CMOS cameras are not "top quality". You'll want CCD.

Newegg has the QuickCam 4000 (OEM) for $61 shipped, and it's a fine camera. If you want something cool that also does face tracking, I would suggest you look at the QuickCam Orbit for $96

wahts that webcam that detects motion and moves and focuses to get your face in the frame automatically? read about it somewhere earlier this year/late last year.

I'd also like to know, that sounds like a really cool feature!

I'm pretty sure you guys are talking about the Orbit. I don't know of any other webcam that does this.

What video conferencing software you plan on using for the webcam? I have the irez k2 camera myself and it works great but it is a $100.00. I think the logitech ones are the best bang for the buck.
